The Rig Jig
Crawler chassis Build jig, waterjet cut from 3mm Polycarbonate.
Allowable Build Limits achievable
317mm max (277mm min) wheel base
4mm holes/slots to suit Axial axles
Set for an axle height of 76mm (to suit 152mm 2.2 tire)
multiple skid height adjustments.
The arc of 4mm holes down the right are at 1° increments. By placing your set-up with the rear axle in say the 4th hole down, you can get a 4° kick up to the rear under your skid when the rigs on its tires.
There are 2x 6mm holes at the bottom edge so it is possible to set the rig up permanently at a specific width with threaded rod & some nuts. (missing from this pic)
The top profile cradles the axle housings to double as a handy work stand.
There is no black magic in this jig.
What it allows you to do though is pull a well set-up rig apart & put it back together knowing its the same.
For example, should you wish to change bent rear links to curved rear links, you can lock the whole rig in the jig, support the centre skid, and change them out, knowing nothing else has changed.
If you're a custom builder, or just embarking on your first revision of an existing truck, you need one of these.
